The Congahon is a set of three Conga drums in a box!

The Congahon is designed to sit on on the floor in front of the player, or on a keyboard stand.  It gives the player three tone panels to play with, low, mid and high woody tones. Because it is made completely of wood it never needs tuning and the skins cannot be pierced.

It’s a solid percussion instrument that caters for a multitude of musical styles. It’s a rugged and tactile musical object which is perfect for children to get into percussion or for use as a serious hand-percussion instrument. I’ve seen these used in Music Therapy sessions with clients who love the hands-on aspect and the response you get from touching the playable surface.

Made with Birch, a solid and great sounding timber known for it’s tone and used widely in the building of percussion instruments. Beautiful timber inlays of native NZ timbers show the three various tone sections along the drum. A Tukituki Instruments logo is branded on the drum, felt floor protection pads are fixed to the base, and it has a high quality durable oil finish.
